Newberry Park’s 2:1 Programme for children with special needs and educational needs is an intensive and progressive programme. Our Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) treatment is a specialised programme with an active teaching and learning process, which is purely driven by goals and outcomes. This option consists of 2 children sharing a tutor.
With our 2:1 Programme, although children share a tutor, every child has an individualised programme that is based upon their assessment outcomes. Treatment session hours will be dependent upon the student and may range from 7:30am – 1:00pm or 2:00pm.
The quality of our instructors is assured with supervision on a monthly basis and daily data on your child’s progress which is sent to us. This ensures that if changes need to be made to your child’s programme, it can be done as soon as the need arises.
The duration of intervention and the number of hours per child are all dependent on factors such as:
- The age of the child
- The programme placement when appropriate
- Ancillary services
OUR 2:1 programme INCLUDES
- One specialist to every two children
- An individualised programme that is built on the assessed needs of the child
- Learning through play and practice within multiple settings
- All learning is tracked via data and the child’s progress is recorded
- Weekly supervision by case consultants
- Termly progress meetings
New Group Class Starting in September:
Age group: 3 – 6 years
6 children with 1 teacher and 1 facilitator
Time: 8am – 1pm
Our group class is a full-time programme, and we admit students from 3 years of age.
We follow a structured intervention that is modified in terms of pace and content dependent upon the student.
Our class size is a maximum of 6 children and the group consists of children from 3 to 6 years of age.
This high level of adult-to-child ratio ensures that each child can cope with the work presented.
Every student has an independent IEP programme that is developed for their needs.
Assessments:
Our assessments are done on an ongoing basis because we realise how children’s abilities in areas can change daily.
Our reports are therefore based on this continuous assessment.
ABA works well for children with education and special needs, and it is well known as the intervention of choice for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Your children will learn skills through this intervention which they will be able to apply in their lives.
Using this approach and our specialist caregivers, we are specifically equipped to assist with autism cases.
