09 Jun Parent Coaching – Join the Balance Program
Let Juliet and Letitia help you to address
emerging problem behaviour at home.
Why Coach Parents?
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, parent management training should be the first-line intervention for children with ASD or disruptive behaviours. Read the article here. Adding parent at-home intervention to other treatment and schooling options is the most important tool for decreasing aggression, defiance, and oppositional behaviour at home.
What is Newberry offering to help parents?
The Balance Program is designed specifically to support children who are displaying minor behaviour problems, such as instruction following at home. Newberry Park is offering a first-of-its-kind virtual coaching program for the parents and caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and those at risk of ASD.
We will support and coach you. The coaching is two-fold it will teach you the skills you will need and then it will support you through implementing them within your family. This will help you address problem behaviour before it becomes entrenched. You and your coach will work together on optimising your home-based sessions with your child.
The program begins with meetings with your coach, but most of it is through online coaching sessions. The interventions you’ll learn through the coaching program have been clinically proven to drive long-term positive effects on the common symptoms of ASD as well as the development of later skills.
“We have seen great benefits when families have the skills to support and supplement what their children receive through schooling or therapy.,” said Juliet Newberry BCBA, the program’s clinical director. ” Supporting the parents of children with ASD greatly increases the overall well-being of the families we work with. We have crafted our version of the Balance Program for families at all stages of the journey with their child. I wish we’d been able to offer this long ago.”
The program is delivered by highly trained behavioural health coaches with deep expertise in helping children and caregivers with common challenges associated with autism.
Our leaders are Juliet Newberry our BCBA who leads the program and Letitia Bouwer, a qualified ABA therapist with 11years of experience.
